Why Seminary? Why NTS?

The decision of whether or not to pursue a Seminary degree is one that should not be taken lightly. It is an important question to be asked before one commits the necessary time and financial resources to such an undertaking.

At NTS, we do not “recruit” students. Rather we come alongside you to help you discern the will of God in your life. We look forward to talking with you more and praying with you as you seek God’s plan.

Below are links to videos by three of our alumni in which they address the questions, “Why Seminary?  Why NTS?”  Please listen in by clicking on their name(s) below:

Rev. Cara Shonamon (‘15) | Co-Pastor, Shawnee (KS) Church of the Nazarene
Excerpt from Cara’s video message:  “I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a student and also serve in ministry… One thing I’ve learned from the Seminary is to how convey the theme of holiness – how to tell kids what it means to live a holy life… I love ministering to people and helping them reach their full potential in order to change this world.”

Rev. David Gillett (‘17)
Excerpt from David’s video message:  “A graduate theological education is important for today’s minister, most simply put, because God calls us; and he calls us to serve; and how can we serve if we are not prepared to answer that call?”

Rev. Phil Hamner  (‘95)  |  Senior Pastor, Overland Park (KS) Church of the Nazarene
Excerpt from Phil’s video message:  “(My NTS) education gave me the tools to pull together in my life the kinds of skills that God had given me to lead a congregation with divergent backgrounds, cultures and expectations.  NTS gave me great confidence in the proclamation of the gospel.”
