How to Apply for Financial Aid

Scholarship Aid

New students must complete the following three steps by March 1 in order to be considered for scholarships:
1) Complete the Application for Admission.
2) Complete the NTS General Scholarship/Grant Application
3) Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov

Students who did not receive scholarship aid at the time of admission, may complete a scholarship application each year following the completion of one semester and nine (9) credit hours. The deadline dates are: March 1 for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester.

Federal Aid

To secure a Federal Stafford Loan, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You may also download a PDF of the application. The NTS Financial Aid Office will contact you after you submit the FAFSA application with information on what additional steps need to be taken to secure a Federal Stafford Loan.

Semester Loan

For those students who are seeking a payment plan to cover tuition and fees, you may secure a semester, short-term loan. This loan requires the student to pay back to Security Savings Bank the loan amount borrowed by the end of the semester. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.

Please keep in mind that for each set of application forms there are different sets of rules, regulations, deadlines, instructions, etc. Please read each carefully and follow all instructions exactly.  Failure to do so could delay the process of your application. Plan ahead: only by meeting the preference dates will you receive prompt consideration. Accurately complete all forms to prevent misinterpreted information. Keep copies of all correspondence & completed forms.
